The Thomaston Board of Education will hold a budget workshop tonight, Monday, January 27, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in the Thomaston High School cafeteria. Members of the public can attend in person or watch the live broadcast on the Board of Education’s YouTube channel.
The agenda for the workshop includes a series of executive sessions where specific matters will be discussed privately, including “security strategy” and the “deployment of security personnel or devices”. The public will not be permitted to attend these sessions. Connecticut’s freedom of information laws dictate the discussions that are allowed to be discussed privately, including security protocols.
This follows a previous report by the Clocktown Chronicle regarding security measures in Thomaston schools, including the deployment of security guards.
The public portion of the meeting will not feature a designated section for public comments. However, individuals wishing to share their thoughts may email comments to mstanley@thomastonschools.org up to one hour before the meeting begins.
At the conclusion of the workshop, the agenda calls for the possible approval of the BOE’s operating budget and/or capital budget.
