The Thomaston Recreation Department is keeping the summer momentum going with a variety of community programs still to come in July. Whether you’re looking to relax at sunset, get moving with friends, or enjoy a night out at the ballpark, there’s something for everyone — and it’s not too late to sign up!

Sunset Yoga at Nystroms Field
On Thursday evenings (July 17, 24, and 31), residents can unwind with beginner-friendly yoga led by instructors from Nourished Roots Yoga. This all-levels event runs from 7:00 to 8:00 PM at Nystroms Field or Pavilion. Participants are encouraged to bring a towel, yoga mat, and water.

Yard Goats Game Night
Thomaston Parks and Recreation Night at Dunkin’ Park returns Friday, July 18, as the Hartford Yard Goats take on the Somerset Patriots. The game starts at 7:10 PM with gates opening at 5:30 PM. Tickets are $20 and include a $2 credit usable at concessions or the team store. While the original registration deadline was July 8, signups have been extended for a limited time, with only 20 tickets remaining as of this posting — residents are encouraged to act quickly if they plan to attend.

Backyard Sports & Fitness
From July 21–25, kids ages 7–13 can join Coach Justin Miller for three active morning hours of kickball, capture the flag, dodgeball, and more. This program brings the spirit of PE class to the outdoors and offers a great way for kids to make new friends while staying active. Sessions run from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM daily at Nystroms Park (meet at the track).

Field Hockey Clinic
Also running July 21–25, girls entering grades 7–12 can take part in a field hockey clinic hosted by THS PE teacher Cathy Callahan. Held at the Thomaston High School field from 8:30 to 11:30 AM each day, the clinic costs $90 and requires participants to bring their own stick, shin guards, mouth guard, and water.

To register for any of these events, visit the Recreation Department’s website. The Recreation Department encourages residents to take advantage of these opportunities before summer winds down.
