Seabourne Steps Aside, Sileo on Deck for Republican Ballot

The Republican ticket for Thomaston’s municipal election has made a significant shift. George Seabourne, member of the Board of Finance, has withdrawn from the race for First Selectman. According to the Republican-American, Seabourne said he has too much legal work at this time to take on the additional responsibilities of First Selectman.

In his place, Rich Sileo, the current chairman of the Board of Finance, is expected to appear on the ballot as the Republican candidate to be the town’s next top executive. Sileo will face Democrat Jeff Dunn in November’s general election.

A second vacancy on the Republican slate was also filled. Laura Fitch, currently Thomaston’s Building & Land Use Administrative Assistant, will run for Tax Collector in place of Cassie Gorman.

Republicans will also decide a primary in September. Mike Burr and Julie Ingham will face off to be on the ballot in November for the Board of Selectman. The primary is scheduled for Tuesday, September 9.

Note – The Clocktown Chronicle will also be publishing in-depth candidate profiles in the next few weeks. Stay tuned.
