Joe taught English at Pomperaug High School from 1979 to 2014. He currently works as a Study Skills and Language Arts tutor at the University of Connecticut.

He earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Southern Connecticut State University, as well as a certificate in Humanistic Education from Sacred Heart University.

Joe volunteers his time at the Fine Arts Council and Writers Group. In addition, he is the author of the novel Gone Troppo, published in 2024 and available at the Thomaston Public Library.
