After a year filled with milestone moments, the Thomaston 150th Anniversary Committee is preparing to close out the town’s anniversary year with a series of Saturday events in November that celebrate both Thomaston’s history and the volunteers who keep its traditions going.
Throughout 2025, the committee has organized a full calendar of activities, including a parade and festival in June and Nystrom’s Family Fun Day in July, which brought residents together for an afternoon of games, music, and family fun. As the year comes to a close, three events will round out the celebration.
Ghost Tours — November 1, 2025
UPDATE: According to the anniversary committee, the Ghost Tours have been canceled due to lack of interest.
November begins with guided Ghost Tours through downtown Thomaston.
Walking tours will begin and end at the Thomaston Opera House (158 Main Street), departing at 5:30, 6:00, 6:30, and 7:00 p.m. Each group tour will feature a mix of local history and lighthearted stories connected to the town’s past. Tickets are $5 per person (cash or check) and include cider and donuts. Attendance is limited to 15 people per group. Tickets may be purchased at the Thomaston Town Hall Land Use Office or by calling 860-283-8411, Option 1.
Gala Night — November 8, 2025
The celebration continues with Gala Night, a formal evening marking Thomaston’s 150th year. The event will take place at Grand Oak Villa (550 Sylvan Lake Road, Oakville) from 6 to 11 p.m. Guests will enjoy dinner, dancing, raffles, and the unveiling of the 150th Anniversary Video and Commemorative Book. Tickets are $60 per person, which include one drink ticket. They may be purchased online or through committee members, the Town Hall Land Use Office, or Patti’s Place. Formal attire is requested.
Light Up Thomaston — November 29, 2025
For more than three decades, Light Up Thomaston has served as the town’s official start to the holiday season. Since its founding in 1994, this volunteer-run event has illuminated downtown each Thanksgiving weekend with lights, music, and a visit from Santa Claus. This year’s celebration will begin at 6 p.m. on Saturday, November 29. The event remains free to attend and is supported by grants, donations, and local businesses.
Questions can be directed to lightupthomaston@yahoo.com. A more detailed event guide will be published by the Clocktown Chronicle as the event approaches.
These November events will bring the 150th Anniversary year to a close, offering residents a chance to celebrate together and look back on a historic year for Thomaston.
