The following Letter to the Editor was provided to the Clocktown Chronicle by Ed Mone, Thomaston’s current First Selectman. If you are interested in submitted a letter, please email contact@clocktownchronicle.com.
As the current First Selectman of Thomaston, I have had the pleasure of working with Rich Sileo for the last 10 years that he has served on the Board of Finance with 3 years of those 10 he being the Chairman of that Board.
Over that 10 year period I have come to know Rich Sileo as a thoughtful servant of the people of Thomaston who has balanced the needs of our Town with the affordability of the tax paying public in his decision making. Not an easy task when affordability is an ever present major consideration. Yet in that period of time, serving our community collaboratively, we have been able to make major advances in improving our roads and town buildings. We have also been able to maintain or improve the services provided to our community.
As First Selectman Rich would be in the position to take the lead to continue to make the improvements to Thomaston. Many opportunities for the town are on the near horizon regarding downtown revitalization, housing and education. He will lead this charge in a very analytical and thoughtful manner while always keeping in mind affordability for the residents of our fair town.
As your soon to be former First Selectman, I strongly urge you to vote for Rich Sileo for First Selectman on Election day this November.
Edmond V. Mone
