Thomaston’s carnival is almost here, packed with food, fireworks, and summer fun.
The Thomaston Volunteer Fire Department’s annual carnival returns to Sanford Field from Wednesday, July 30 through Saturday, August 2, bringing rides, games, live music, fireworks, and food to the heart of town. Held behind Thomaston Center School, the event is a highlight of the local summer calendar.
The biggest fireworks show yet, according to organizers, will light up the sky on Friday, August 1 at 9:00 p.m., best viewed from the carnival grounds. The display is a partnership between the Fire Department and Thomaston Savings Bank.
A crowd favorite every year, the food tent will serve up everything from fried oreos, burgers, chicken tenders, corn on the cob, and more. On Friday night, firefighters will also be serving up freshly cooked roast beef sandwiches, available for takeout as well.
Live music, hosted in the beer garden, will keep the event lively throughout the weekend. Jen and Jerry’s Acoustic will perform on Thursday, followed by Days Off on Friday, and Thunder Road Band on Saturday evening, starting at 6:00 p.m. Picnic tables will be available both under the tent and out in the open for those looking to relax and enjoy the show.
The Firefighters Parade kicks off Saturday at 5:00 p.m., with the route through Main Street.
The event also features a raffle with thousands in VISA gift cards up for grabs. Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased from any firefighter. The drawing will be held Saturday night at 9:30 p.m.
Whether you’re coming for the fireworks, food, or family fun, the fire department carnival is a can’t miss summer staple in Thomaston.
