As PKF O’Connor Davies begins its review of the school district’s finances for fiscal year 2025-26, Interim Business Manager Raymond Engle has prepared a financial projection showing a potential budget overrun exceeding $380,000 for this year ending June 30, 2027.
In a narrative report prepared for the Board of Education’s October 19th meeting, Engle warns that the district’s current spending rate may result in an overrun comparable to the previous fiscal year’s deficit.
Commentary within the report and discussion at the Board of Finance’s October 13th meeting indicate that the projection does not include up to $175,000 in additional costs associated with the district’s interim superintendent and interim business manager, along with approximately $28,000 in consulting expenses related to recent employee payroll issues. These expenses could further increase the projected overrun, depending in part on how long interim Superintendent Mark Winzler is in place.
The Board of Education and its Budget/Audit Committee are scheduled to meet on Monday, October 19th, as the district works through its financial challenges. The meetings will be streamed and available on the district’s YouTube channel.
