Uniquely Thomaston: Art Show on Rails Coming to RMNE

This press release was provided to the Clocktown Chronicle by the Fine Arts Connection of Thomaston.

The Fine Arts Connection of Thomaston, Inc. (FACT), in conjunction with the Railroad Museum of New England (RMNE), will hold a unique event on Sunday, September 14th from 12-5 pm: a Train Car Arts Show! This event, to be held at the Museum, 242 East Main St., is the first for both organizations.  A former passenger train car has been ‘de-seated’ to make space for an exhibit of art from the FACT groups:  The Ten-2-One Artists, the Camera Club, and the Creative Writing Group.  There is also artwork from students at Thomaston High School.  The greater Thomaston area has many very talented artists!  All artwork is available for purchase; no cash sales. Artwork purchase enables the buyer to participate in a raffle for free RMNE train tickets.

The public is invited to an opening reception on Saturday, September 13th, from 3:30-5:30 pm to preview the submissions. Refreshments will be available and music will be provided by Tom Turci of Southington.

The event will be open to the public on Sunday, and walk-ins are cordially invited. There will be some activities for children, as well as free take-homes. Courtesy of the Thomaston Savings Bank Foundation, trolley rides to and from the Railroad Museum, will be available on a continuous loop during the Thomaston Car Show, with pick-up and drop-off location on Union Street.
