Early voting for Connecticut’s Aug. 11 primary election begins Monday, Aug. 3. In Thomaston, Democrats will choose their nominee for governor, while Republicans will decide their nominee for Connecticut’s 5th Congressional District. The winners will advance to the Nov. 3 general election.

Only registered Democrats may vote in the Democratic primary and only registered Republicans may vote in the Republican primary. Voters who wished to switch party affiliation had until May 11 to do so.

Democratic voters will choose between Gov. Ned Lamont, the incumbent seeking a third term, and Josh Elliott, a state representative from Hamden. The winner will face Republican Ryan Fazio, a state senator from Greenwich, in the November general election.

Republican voters will choose between Chris Shea, the party-endorsed candidate and retired Navy chief warrant officer, and Jonathan DeBarros, a Marine Corps veteran and community leader. The winner will challenge incumbent Representative Jahana Hayes, who has represented Thomaston in Congress since 2019, in the November general election.

Early voting in Thomaston will be held in the Crescent Gallery at Town Hall during the following hours:

• Monday, Aug. 3: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Tuesday, Aug. 4: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Wednesday, Aug. 5: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Thursday, Aug. 6: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Friday, Aug. 7: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Saturday, Aug. 8: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Sunday, Aug. 9: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

There will be no voting on Monday, Aug. 10. Primary Election Day is Tuesday, Aug. 11, with polls open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the Crescent Gallery at Town Hall. To view a sample ballot, click here.
