Ruth Fowler Litwin will celebrate a century of life this weekend as family and friends gather to honor her 100th birthday on Saturday, Aug. 1. The celebration will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. at Plymouth Congregational Church.

Born on July 30, 1926, on Elm Street in Thomaston, Litwin has spent much of her life connected to the community where she was raised. She graduated from Thomaston High School at just 16 years old before beginning a career with Seth Thomas Clock Company, where she worked for many years as a private secretary.

Ruth married Ivan Litwin on Nov. 6, 1948. The couple made their home in Plymouth, where they raised a son and a daughter. She later became co-owner of the Litwin-Gagne Real Estate Agency in Thomaston, remaining in the business until her retirement. 

Over the course of the last century, Litwin has witnessed extraordinary changes in the world while remaining closely connected to her family and the Thomaston community where her story began. Community members are invited to join Litwin’s family in celebrating the milestone during the birthday celebration from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Plymouth Congregational Church. As family members prepare to celebrate the milestone, they say the occasion is an opportunity to reflect on a life “filled with love, family, resilience and countless memories.”
