Thomaston’s annual carnival returns this week, bringing rides, games, food, live music and fireworks to Sanford Field behind Thomaston Center School.

Hosted by the Thomaston Volunteer Fire Department, the carnival runs from Wednesday, July 29 through Saturday, Aug. 1 and remains one of the town’s favorite summer traditions.

The weekend’s biggest attraction is the fireworks display, scheduled for Friday, July 31 at 9:00 p.m.

The carnival’s popular food tent will once again feature a wide selection of favorites, including fried dough, fried Oreos, French fries, hamburgers, hot dogs, cheeseburgers, chicken tenders, and more. The department’s famous roast beef sandwiches will return Friday night only.

Live entertainment will be offered Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, while carnival rides provided by Tufano Amusements will operate throughout the event.

The parade steps off Saturday at 5:00 p.m., traveling along Main Street through downtown Thomaston.

Beyond serving as one of Thomaston’s largest summer events, the annual carnival is also an important fundraiser for the volunteer fire department. Proceeds support department needs not fully covered through the town budget.

Whether you’re stopping by for the rides, food, fireworks or parade, the carnival offers four evenings of community fun while supporting the Thomaston Volunteer Fire Department.
