Lili Haydn, Paul Cantelon to headline Landmark Theatre benefit concert

When musical artists who have won and been nominated for Grammy Awards come together to perform, it is a special event. And it will be very special on Saturday night, March 28th, when Landmark Community Theatre welcomes Lili Haydn and Paul Cantelon.

The two highly honored musicians will present a “One Night Only” concert as a benefit performance of their Grammy-nominated album “Lullabies for the Brokenhearted.” All proceeds will support women’s vocational programs in Nigeria, thanks to a partnership of Landmark and Stitch on Main in Thomaston.

Lili Haydn is a Grammy-winning composer, songwriter, singer, and violinist. She has collaborated with the likes of the legendary Herbie Hancock, Jimmy Page & Robert Plant, George Clinton’s P-Funk All Stars, and Hans Zimmer. She also has composed scores for film and television, including the popular Netflix series “Ginny and Georgia.”

Paul Cantelon is a Juilliard-trained pianist and composer known for his film scores and modern classical compositions. He has created music for notable films such as “The Diving Bell” and “Wings of the Dove.” He was also a founding member of the alternative band The Wild Colonials and was the only American composer featured at the Platinum Jubilee for Queen Elizabeth in 2022.

Their beautiful new “Lullabies for the Brokenhearted” is a poignant and transcendent album shaped by personal loss and the redemptive power of music. After the sudden passing of Cantelon’s wife, singer Angela McCluskey, grief left him unable to play. Haydn, a lifelong friend and collaborator, invited him into her home, and together they composed music that rekindled the creative spirit.

While rooted in sorrow, their music is full of light, hope, and reverence, while opening space for grief and healing in the remembrance of those loved ones who have transitioned into another life.

“Their music is an extraordinary gift for everyone’s heart, reminding us of the forever power of memory,” writes one critic.

Lili and Paul will be joined in this performance by the acclaimed saxophonist and composer Premik Russell Tubbs. He has been a prominent musician and recording artist for more than 40 years and has performed with Carlos Santana, Elton John, Ravi Shakar, Whitney Houston, and James Taylor.

This concert is a unique fundraising event in support of women’s vocational programs in Nigeria, where programs are currently underway to empower women to develop and hone skills in various fields such as information technology, carpentry, and fashion design. These efforts are helping women in the African nation to break barriers, gain financial independence, and contribute effectively to the growth of the nation.

The “One Night Only” concert is set for 7 p.m. Saturday, March 28th at the Thomaston Opera House, 158 Main St. Tickets may be ordered online at or by calling the box office at (860) 283-6250.
